Chinalco Low Copper High-performance Copper Alloy Material Development Project Passes National Acceptance Test

Recently, Chinalco Luo Copper invested more than 50 million yuan in the “High-performance copper alloy material development and production technology innovation capacity building” project successfully passed the national acceptance. The completion of this project marks that Chinalco Luotong Copper's important technical center has formed a relatively complete high-performance copper alloy material research, process research and equipment research technology platform, which will help it play the role of the nationally recognized enterprise technology center in technological innovation. The role of demonstration and promotion of enterprises and industries to further enhance their innovation capabilities has laid a solid foundation for accelerating the research and development of high-performance copper alloy materials such as high-purity, micro-alloying, and multi-alloying. The research and development of copper alloy materials for electronic use in China has a history of more than 20 years. Due to the lack of product development and innovation capabilities, there are serious shortages in serialization of electronic copper alloy materials, diversification of types and specifications, and depth of research on process technologies. Compared with similar foreign products, there is a large gap, resulting in a large number of high-performance copper alloy materials urgently needed for the construction of the domestic electronics industry rely on imports, which restricts the rapid development of China's national economy. In order to change this passive situation, ChinaLuoluo Copper was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, and in 2004 it began to implement the “High-performance copper alloy material development and production technology innovation capacity building” project. The project aims at the current development trend of the world's copper processing industry technology, through the use of high-purity, micro-alloying, and complex multi-alloyed alloys to improve the use of high-end products in the domestic electronics, power, and electrical industries. Chinalco Losco Technology Center is an important enterprise technology center with strong R&D capabilities. Its research projects represent the development direction of the domestic copper processing industry. However, for a long time, due to the imperfect pilot line equipment used for product R&D, some new copper alloy materials and high-end product R&D and process research often need to be intertwined with the company's production, affecting both new and new product R&D speeds. It also affects normal production, and it is very uneconomical to use large-scale production equipment for small-batch, small-scale tests. After the implementation of the "High-performance copper alloy material development and production technology innovation capability building" project, Chinalco Losco Copper Technology Center purchased several advanced equipment to fill in the original pilot production line and opened up a common use of high-performance copper alloy processing and production. The key link of common technology has improved the high-performance copper alloy material fusion casting, strip and tube bar pilot line, and has established a high-quality, high-level research and development platform for high-performance copper alloys, which enables the research and innovation of Chinalco Lowo Copper Technology Center. Ability has made a qualitative leap. The experts of the acceptance committee agreed that the technical indicators of the project construction met the design requirements and reached the level of “internationally advanced, leading domestic”. The project shows good social and economic benefits during the implementation process. Chinalco Luotong Technology Center combines the difficulties in research and development of high-performance copper alloy materials, such as alloy composition design, accurate control of trace elements in high-purity copper alloys, on-line solid solution/deformation heat treatment technologies, and key products such as oxygen-free copper, High-end products such as lead frame materials, RF cable tapes, and free-cutting brass have been researched. Five new materials have been researched and developed to receive provincial and ministerial-level technological achievement awards; six new technology patents have been applied for, and some countries have urgently needed copper for construction. The key technologies and processes of alloy materials have been broken through and the products have been put into the market in batches.
