The optimal temperature range for application is between 20°C and 30°C. For bacterial-based bio-pesticides, the ideal temperature is 25°C to 30°C, where the efficacy can be 1 to 2 times higher compared to applications made at 10°C to 15°C.
Humidity is another key factor. Higher environmental humidity improves the performance of bacterial pesticides, especially when using powdered formulations. It’s recommended to apply these products during early morning or late evening when dew is present, as this helps the microorganisms adhere better to plant surfaces, promoting spore germination and enhancing the overall effect.
Rainfall can have a mixed impact. Heavy rain shortly after application may wash away the bacteria from leaves, reducing their effectiveness. However, if rain occurs more than five hours after application, it may actually help by aiding the spread and survival of the bacteria, leading to a synergistic effect.
