Cross-linked polyethylene special materials for mass production After five years of dedicated research and development, Liaoyang Petrochemical Company has successfully completed pilot testing, small-scale trials, and full-scale industrial production. The company has officially launched mass production of its newly developed high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resin J0253P, a breakthrough product that marks a significant milestone in China's polymer industry. As of December 3, the plant has produced a total of 2,282 tons of this advanced material. This achievement not only breaks the long-standing technological monopoly held by foreign companies but also fills a critical gap in the domestic market. It accelerates the industrialization of new polyethylene products from Sinopec and serves as a new source of revenue growth for the company. The project, known as the cross-linked polyethylene special material development initiative, was launched in September 2007 and is one of Sinopec's top priority new product development programs. The J0253P resin is primarily used in the production of floor heating plastic pipes. It features uniform particle size, optimal dimensions, and a narrow molecular weight distribution. Its smooth inner and outer surfaces reduce flow resistance, making it less prone to clogging or bacterial growth. Additionally, the material exhibits excellent resistance to solvents, chemical corrosion, and impact. It also has strong wear resistance and aging resistance, ensuring long-term durability. Under operating conditions of 70°C water temperature and 1 MPa fluid pressure, the service life of products made from this resin can reach up to 50 years. This makes it an ideal choice for high-performance applications in residential and commercial heating systems. With this successful launch, Liaoyang Petrochemical is not only strengthening its position in the global polymer market but also contributing to the advancement of China’s petrochemical industry.
