On March 31st, the 300kW marine tidal power generation unit independently developed by Guodian United Power Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Union Powerâ€) using 270° electric pitch technology and underwater video technology successfully went to sea and smoothly connected to the grid for power generation operation. .
This is the world's first application of 270° pitch technology, which has enabled tidal current generators with efficient bi-directional ocean current energy capture. The joint power took the lead in overcoming the technological bottlenecks of stable control of the unit through the combination of ocean current fluctuations and pitch variation, and developed the first domestic tidal current generator set using electric pitch technology. For Europe and the United States, where only 180° pitch technology is used and energy capture efficiency is low, United Power has devoted five years to serious research and developed a more advanced 270° electric pitch technology. The pitch range is larger and the pitch strategy is more flexible. The full capture of forward and reverse currents is achieved to achieve the best energy capture and power generation efficiency.
This unit is also the world's first tidal power generating set that uses submarine video technology to monitor the safety of generator sets. It continuously monitors the critical parts of the unit for the entire life cycle and is the first time in the world. United Power owns the complete independent intellectual property rights for R&D and design of this ocean energy unit. The project has obtained 22 authorized patents, including 7 invention patents; participated in the preparation of a national energy industry standard; and published 10 high-level research papers. This technical innovation won the first prize of the 2017 Marine Science and Technology Award of the country, leading the way in the world of marine tidal current energy generation technology, and promoting China's marine tidal current energy generation technology to achieve a giant leap forward and into the world's advanced ranks.
