According to the Huangshi Daily, Wu Yuanzhong is just four months away from seeing his dream come true.
From Wu Yuanzhong’s office, heading southwest through Huangjing Mountain, about 10 kilometers away, lies the China Sea Heat Exchanger project within the Baoshan Industrial Park of the Golden Mountain New District. The construction is accelerating, with three large-scale standard factory buildings already topped off and standing proudly near the road. In the otherwise empty industrial park, these structures are hard to miss.
This project represents Wu Yuanzhong’s vision of building the best factory and producing top-quality products. On the afternoon of March 7, after completing the registration for foreign trade operations, Wu made a quick trip to the site to personally check on the progress before it got dark.
“Looking at this project feels like watching my own child grow,†he said. Since the start of construction in late August last year, the project has progressed smoothly—far beyond what Wu had anticipated. With the current pace, the project is expected to be officially operational by the end of June this year.
In 2005, Wu Yuanzhong chose to establish Hubei Daye Zhonghai Heat Exchanger Co., Ltd. in the development zone, focusing on the production of heat exchanger equipment. These products are widely used in industries such as ships, power generation, diesel engines, and compressors. In 2008, the company began collaborating with the renowned German Man Group for product development and technology. The Man Group, one of the world’s top 500 companies, is known for creating the first commercial diesel engine and leading in marine engine sales worldwide.
“The Germans’ meticulous and rigorous approach in machinery manufacturing can be almost brutal,†Wu recalled. Factory inspections, qualification processes, R&D evaluations, technical tests, product testing, and quality checks lasted over four years. Finally, in April 2012, the high-power low-speed diesel air cooler produced by Zhonghai was recognized. This made Zhonghai the first heat exchanger manufacturer on the Chinese mainland to receive technical approval from the German Man Group.
“This recognition means that China Sea’s production and R&D capabilities in high-power low-speed diesel air coolers have reached the top level in China,†Wu said. Moreover, this achievement opened up new overseas markets for China Shipping. As a result, the existing production base could no longer meet the company’s future needs. China Shipping needed more space to grow.
This time, Wu set his sights on Shannan again. The project site was completed in early 2012, leveled in June, and officially started in August. By the end of the Spring Festival in 2013, three out of the four standard factory buildings were nearly finished. Each building covers over 6,000 square meters, making the scale of any single facility larger than the entire 3,500-square-meter workshop at the existing production base.
As soon as the Spring Festival ended, Fan Jin, representing Party A Zhonghai Company, arrived at the construction site on the eighth day of the lunar new year to urge the contractors to speed up the work. “The entire 400-mu Baoshan Industrial Park is our largest in China, and we occupy 100 mu. In the next four months, we plan to complete the electrical installation and commissioning of the production equipment. We aim to be the first company to go into operation in the park by the end of June,†Fan stated.
“Last year, the output value of China Shipping exceeded 100 million yuan for the first time. With the new Shannan production base, this year’s output is expected to surpass 150 million yuan. Over the next three to five years, we aim to reach over 360 million yuan in output value and take a leading position in our industry segment,†Wu said. In his mind, the next dream is already taking shape.
