Urea application out of six misunderstandings

I. Mixing with ammonium bicarbonate After urea is applied to the soil, it must be converted into ammonium nitrogen to be absorbed by the crop. The conversion rate is much slower under alkaline conditions than under acidic conditions. The soil reacted alkaline after the application of ammonium bicarbonate. If ammonium bicarbonate and urea are mixed, the rate of conversion of urea to ammonia is greatly slowed down, which easily causes loss of urea and loss of volatilization. Therefore, the two should not be mixed or applied at the same time.

Second, the surface of the application of urea applied to the surface, at room temperature after 3 to 5 days of transformation process in order to be absorbed by the crop, most of the nitrogen is volatilized in the process of conversion of urea into ammonium, the utilization rate is only about 30%; When applied in alkaline soil, the loss of nitrogen is much faster. Therefore, urea cannot be applied on the surface.

Third, as a seed fertilizer Urea in the production process, will produce a small amount of biuret. When the biuret content exceeds 2%, it will be toxic to seeds and seedlings. When urea enters seeds and seedlings, it denatures proteins, affecting seed germination and seedling growth.

4. Immediately after applying urea, urea urea nitrogen fertilizer must be converted into ammonium nitrogen after being applied to be absorbed and utilized. The transformation process is different due to different conditions such as soil quality, moisture and temperature. The time is long and short. It usually takes 2 to 10 days to complete. If the urea is applied immediately after irrigation or the dry land is applied before heavy rain, the urea will dissolve in water and be lost. .

5. Mixed application with alkaline fertilizers Under the alkaline conditions, most of the nitrogen will become ammonia and volatilize. Therefore, urea cannot be mixed or used simultaneously with alkaline fertilizers such as lime, grass ash, calcium magnesium phosphate.

6. Apply to celery A large amount of nitrogen is needed during the whole growth of celery, but urea cannot be applied. Because of the application of urea, the celery fiber will increase and become thicker, the plant will be aging, the growth will be slow, and the taste will be bitter and the quality will be inferior. Celery is suitable for ammonium bicarbonate, ammonia and organic fertilizers.
