Door closer use requirements

1) Whether there is an automatic door stop function after opening the door;

2) Damping buffer function - Damping buffer is generated after quick opening to a certain position, and the damping buffer force and range can be adjusted according to the use requirements; this function is used to prevent the door or lock from colliding with the wall when the door is opened quickly, or emergency escape It prevents people from losing weight when they open the door quickly and tilts forward to the ground. 3) Delayed slow closing - the door is closed slowly from the maximum position of the door, and can be adjusted steplessly according to requirements. It is suitable for use in places where people enter and exit frequently and in many places, especially in hospitals, and there are doors and passages for the elderly, children and disabled people.

4) The closing force can be adjusted - it can be installed on different doors with a wide range of door weights and door widths, as well as places with high door closing resistance due to environmental reasons. Festive stepless adjustment can achieve satisfactory closing power, especially in places where coastal cities, vehicles and ships are affected by wind and the closing resistance (force of the door) changes frequently.

5) Damping reset function temporary closing performance (vertical door closer) - When opening any angle, closing the speed control valve should temporarily suspend the damping reset function.

6) Safe and fast super-damping closing performance (vertical door closer) - sudden application of external force during the closing of any angle should be able to close safely and quickly.

7) Use environment: Fire and fire protection requirements and anti-freezing requirements in places under minus 35° in winter.

Usually, the choice of the door closer can be matched with the size and weight of different doors according to the manufacturer's product specification parameters, according to different strengths or adjustable forces. The table below shows the quality/size of the seven grade test doors specified in British Standard BS EN 1154 (a recognized standard for door closer classification). The closing force of the door closer usually specifies a value between 1 and 7, the greater the number, the greater the ability of the door closer.

2, the installation of the door closer

a, how to install the door closer

The most commonly used door closers are exterior door closers, which are installed as follows:

The most common standard usage is when the door closer is mounted to the hinge side and the door is open. When so mounted, the arms of the door closer protrude outwardly, approximately 90° to the door frame.

In the second usage, the door closer is mounted on the opposite side of the hinge from the side of the hinge. Usually an additional bracket provided with the door closer is mounted to the arm parallel to the door frame. This type of usage is usually used on exterior doors that are unwilling to install the door closers outside the building.

The door closer body is in turn mounted to the door frame instead of the door, and the door closer is on the opposite side of the door hinge. This usage can also be used for exterior doors that open outwards, especially with only a narrow upper edge, and without sufficient space to accommodate those doors of the door closer body.

The third usage, the vertical door closer (built-in automatic reset hinge) stands upright inside the side of the door leaf shaft, can not see the screws and parts from the outside, can be integrated with the door, can be opened and closed in one direction, simple construction .

b. Installation steps of the door closer:

Usually, the instruction manual provided with the door closer has a mounting template, so read the manual first, and determine the installation position according to the opening direction, the size of the closing force, and the installation dimensions between the door closer body, the connecting seat and the door hinge.

2) According to the size of the closing force, the closing force can be changed by inverting the connecting seat by 180° or changing the connection position between the connecting rod and the connecting seat. The greater the distance between the connecting rod and the center line of the door hinge, the smaller the closing force of the door closer, and vice versa.

3) According to the position indication on the installation template, determine the position of the mounting screws, then drill and tap.

4) Install the door closer body with screws.

5) Install the fixed connector.

6) Install the engine board with screws.

7) Adjust the adjustment lever to 90° to the door frame, and then connect the connecting rod to the drive plate.

8) Don't forget to install a plastic cover that can be used to catch the hydraulic oil leaking from the door closer.

9) After installation, check whether the fixing screws are tight and there is no looseness or weakness. Open the door to the maximum door opening position and check if the hinged arm of the door closer touches or rubs against the door or door frame.

Closed door closing speed

10) Adjust the closing speed of the door closer as needed. Usually the door closer has 2 speed control (throttle spool) screws. The upper adjustment screw is the first closing speed adjustment screw, and the lower adjustment screw is the second (usually 10o) closing speed adjustment screw.

c. Use and maintenance of door closers, repairs

Newly installed door closers are used for approximately one to ten days, and all screws should be inspected and retightened.

Use hydraulic oil recommended by the manufacturer. For cold areas, use low-condensation hydraulic oil.

The door closer should be inspected regularly after being put into use. The contents of the inspection are: whether the mounting screws are loose or missing, whether the connecting arm rubs against the door or the door frame, whether the door body is deformed or loosened, the buffering effect of closing the door, and the support guiding Whether the piece leaks oil, etc.

Usually the following problems occur after the door closer has been used for a while:

1) The mounting screws are loose or missing, resulting in the door closer not being in the correct mounting position and the connecting arm being damaged;

2) When the door closer is closed, the buffering effect is deteriorated, causing the door to collide with the door frame and the door body is deformed;

From the structure point of view, the door closer is a closed whole, and its quality is basically not seen from the appearance.

The most critical quality problem of the door closer is whether it leaks oil, because the door closer relies on the throttling of the fluid in its internal hydraulic system to control the closing process. The oil leakage means the failure of the hydraulic system, so the hydraulic system is The only criterion that determines the life of the door closer.

The main cause of oil leakage is that the pinion support guide wears to increase the clearance, the seal wear causes the sealing effect to decrease, or the throttle body rotates counterclockwise away from the valve body when adjusting the cushioning effect.

The reduction in the cushioning effect of the door closer is caused by the entry of air due to oil leakage or the increase in the fit (throttle) gap between the rack plunger guiding cylinder and the valve body. Therefore, the quality and accuracy of the material of the pinion and the support guide, heat treatment and machining are very important.

For a door closer with poor cushioning effect, simply adjusting the throttle spool for throttling cannot solve the problem at all. It is necessary to repair the method. If there is oil leakage at the support guide, remove the support guide and check the condition of the seal. If it is worn or aged, replace the seal. If the gap between the support guide and the pinion shaft is too large, the support guide is replaced. If the rack plunger is worn on the guide cylinder, the clearance between the valve body and the valve body is increased, resulting in a decrease in the throttling effect. The rack plunger can be removed and the surface is chrome-plated. In addition, in the case of ensuring the cushioning effect of the door closer, the use of a softer spring is also a method of reducing the impact force of the door to the door frame due to the deterioration of the cushioning effect.
