The first TPS reverse thrust test in China was successfully completed on the 26th at the Low-speed Institute 8m×6m wind tunnel of China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center. This indicates that China has been equipped with TPS positive and negative thrust wind tunnel test capabilities, and is of great significance to the development of Chinese aircraft, especially large-scale aircraft.
TPS English full name Turbofan-Powered-Simulator, that is, turbofan power simulation, is a test that must be performed on a large turbofan engine. As the power output of the engine will affect the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft, wind tunnel testing has become the internationally recognized best way to validate and optimize the aerodynamic shape and engine design of the aircraft. The TPS wind tunnel test is the most complex part of the low-speed wind tunnel test technology. The Low-speed Institute of China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center has been working on related technologies since the end of the last century, and successfully completed the first TPS positive thrust wind tunnel test in 2007. Compared with the positive thrust simulation, the anti-thrust simulation requires more signals for testing and monitoring, and the requirements for miniaturization and monitoring alarm systems of test instruments are higher. With the establishment of large-scale aircraft in China, it is imperative to establish supporting TPS thrust reverse wind tunnel test technology.
The TPS thrust reverse research project began in 2009. During the research process, this institute has completed the development and calibration of high-pressure gas supply systems, rod-typed force balances, monitoring alarm systems, and other core equipment, solved air bridge temperature effect corrections, reversed push test methods and procedures, and fine flow control measurements. The remaining key technical problems, which took one year to complete the commissioning of the sub-system and comprehensive joint debugging, successfully formed the test capability in the 8m×6m wind tunnel. The test results show that this test technology can simulate various power output states of the engine well, systematically study the influence of the engine on the aerodynamic characteristics of the aircraft, and the obtained data accuracy meets the requirements for model development and fully supports the aircraft of China’s aircraft, especially large-scale aircraft. - Engine integrated design.
